Homework

Y6 Homework expectations

In our class, homework is sent home on a Friday in a black folder. Homework usually consists of a set of Maths questions (the Calculations Policy - linked below - models the methods used in class) and an English related task: either reading comprehension, spelling, GPS or occasionally a writing task. Homework should be returned by the following Wednesday at the latest. This allows a couple of days at the start of the week for children to bring homework back into school and ask questions about anything they are not sure about.

In addition to this, all children in the class have a reading book which they should be reading regularly at home - please see 'The Magic of Reading' (attached below) for support and information. Spellings are also set on a Friday and tested the following Thursday; it is very important that your child practises these regularly across the week.

In addition, there will be a creative piece of homework set every half-term. This is intended to be something that you can enjoy sharing with your child. If there are any queries or concerns about homework, please do get in touch with us; we don’t want homework to be stressful or contentious for anybody!

Thank you for your support.
